they all died but one both times? edit: yes they are VERY active.. they're like nervous little dogs... sort of shaking all the time... they def burn some calories... I feed the heck out of my tank too, so mine eat well... as I said 3 or 4 times per day... on rare occasions 5 times... I want to ensure everyone is well fed... all my corals are good with high nutrients so I throw food in without conscience.

Yes all but one. It happened over a period of time not just a couple of months. This was years ago when I was new and TBH I failed to research their nutritional needs. The tank they'll be going in this time is already being fed multiple times a day but its larger food with a lot of PE mysis. I'm hoping adding an auto feeder to dispence small food will allow the chromis to get their share since the majority of other fish are tangs and they usually aren't interested in small food particles. I'll continue my manual feedings as well. I'm retired so I'm home all day and my tangs are very good at begging for food.
The tank runs higher nutrients but I keep mostly softies in that tank and they don't mind.
