I suspect you're going to get a very wide range of opinions.

Back in the day (say over 10 years ago) people used to say 5g/inch. I had 15 fish of 2-3" each in a 75g, so that doesn't work.
They also used to say a pound of rock per gallon, but that also doesn't work. Porous rock is a much better filtration media than dense rock and of course weighs much less.
I mention the LR as it's your primary filtration so the more porous the better. This leaves more swimming room, but also requires more turkey basting to keep it cleanish.

Personally, I'd start by stocking with what you have fish/rock-wise and let the tank balance out bacteria/coral-wise. Once you have nutrients under control consider adding more fish.
If you have large corals, you'll have more nutrient control and can add more fish.
Of course, an appropriately sized skimmer is a must IMO.

Then the last thing I'd look at is how much swimming room is available for the new fish.

I've seen pics of stunning tanks with so many fish you'd think they have no room to swim, yet the aggression is minimal as they can't establish territory.
