How many ml of alk per day will boost alk by 1 dkh?

I am using a BRS doser to dose Randy 's recipe1 for alk .

How many ml of that per day will boost alk by 1 dkh? Is there a thumb rule ?

My reef is now at 7.5 dkh... I dunno what exactly is the daily rate of consumption. My guess is 0.5 dkh every 2 -3 days.....thx

I did that... says 170 ml of alk...
That's to get to 9 from 7.5 dkh.

Just still dunno ratio of ml to 1 dkh ... seems roughly 113 ml=1 dkh... of increase daily.

ML per day corresponding to 1 dkh a day of increasing alk safely without stunning the system. I think I'll shoot for 60 ml daily increase to be safe.

FYI you should never increase ALK more then 1DKH point a day. Unless the tank is empty, to fast of a rise can shock or even kill the inhabitants.

Going by what you posted above(170ML to go from 7.5 to 9), your tank is 160G?

Just keep in mind also that rock, sand, and anything else you have in the tank displaces water. So even though your tank may be 160, your actual water volume is probably less. Like my tank is an 80G cube with 30G sump, but after displacement I only have 85 actual gallons of water.

And yes, going by what you posted above, 114.2ML of randys recipe 1 will raise your tank 1DKH point. But as you mentioned above, best to err on the side of caution. I would probably add half,wait a couple hours and test to see how much it actually went up.

You need to test the tank...wait 12-24 hrs (w/o dosing) and test again. Test at exactly the same time for accuracy.

You’ll know exactly what the tank is consuming in 12-24 hrs.

Once you have that number plug it into a few dosing calculators and average the numbers you get. Then, cut it in half and start there. It’s better to under-dose than to over-dose.

Always remember that not all 2-parts are created equally in potency. Here’s an example:

Aquaforest: 2500 dKH/L
Randy’s DIY 2-part recipe #2: 2660 dKH/L
BRS: 5300 dKH/L
Randy’s DIY 2-part recipe #1: 5300 dKH/L
Tropic Marin ALL-FOR-REEF & Carbo Calcium: 5600 dKH/L
ESV B-Ionic: 7840 dKH/L
Triton Core7: 9750 dKH/L
Red Sea: (I haven’t calculated this one yet)

As you can see above...picking the right one to calculate is important.

Yes, my sw volume is 160g roughly... that's factoring different displacement etc with rock sand...

Safe ML dosing every 3 hr is 14 min
I'm currently at 9 min. testing twice daily. Increasing slowly by 1-2min.

Alk morning was still at 7.5 dkh... no change...at least it didn't go down lol... since yesterday!

Well i have an update.

Dosing 114 ml daily(13 min every 3 hr)...
Alk yesterday was 8.5 , today it's 9.5 dkh.

I reduced it to 3 min every 3 hr now. Let's see

Will test again after 24 hr !

I’ve never seen a brs1.1 actually dose that amount/min. They’re always 1.8-1.9ml/min. You’re probably dosing 195-200ml/day
