How many of you are keeping nano tanks? Post a pic and maybe a link to your build thread! What made you decide to start a nano?

Don't have a nano build thread yet? Here's a link to the nano forum so you can get yours going!

I have a nano I only started putting corals in 2 months ago. I've been bumbling through the whole process. It still looks naked and sad. The ones in this tread are something to look up to.

Don’t know exactly anymore what the definition of nano is. I have a 15 gallon water box peninsula. It’s been a load of fun and even though it had a very owner induced near complete wipeout, it has been able to come back and sitting on my office desk it’s the tank that gets the most attention.

I guess my 30 mixed reef is a nano..... At least by comparison to other tanks I have had in the past. I have had 90s a 180 and even a 310. They were soft corals and LPS. The 310 was a shark tank! Smoothhound, Leopard and Hornshark. I chose a 30 long mostly for ease of maintenance and the relatively low initial cost of rock, equipment and the livestock I would need to get back into the hobby.

A years effort. Just a blast I was told years ago “nanos are so much work”. This is the easiest going tank. No chemical filtration just some algae mix in the back, live rock and sand… boom done. Ohh filter floss of course otherwise the dripping running water sound would drive me crazy and monthly 25% water changes.

started a 14 gallon AIO from IM about 6 months ago so I could get a pair of captive bred mandarin dragonet. wish I have taken the time to aquascape and maybe go bare bottom. I just picked up a yasha goby and plan to add a pistol shrimp after the goby finish QT. I prefer nano since I can keep it on my desk where I can enjoy it more. 20% water change about once every 2- 3 months. refugium LED growing algae in one of the back chamber at night and protein skimmer when I'm away. no chemical filtration, just replace a small filter floss weekly. I plan to stop using filter floss starting next week and see how things go. anyone have success without using filter floss or sock on a nano?

I have a small jar I keep coral in that has been up for almost a month, I'm very limited on space at the moment but in love with the hobby. Glad I set it up and so far so good with what's been going on.
