How much circulation is too much for anenomes?

Need to let that nem get its foot in a rock. Turn off all flow for 10 minutes and place the nem. Let it attach well before you start your return back up.

Also, sell that hippo.

Oddly, I have had this anenome for about 4 or 5 weeks and it has never planted itself on a rock, even though there are a couple in the tank. It spent most of its time sitting in the sand. Today, I moved it up against a rock in a shallow cubby between the rock and glass. I am hoping it will latch on.

The rule of thumb is one inch of fish per gallon of water. Right now the tang is no bigger than the young clowns. Total fish length right now is about 5.5 inches. The tang spending 6 to 9 months of its young life in a 10 gallon is not a terrible thing.

That’s a kinda rule of thumb for freshwater, and really depends on a bunch of other factors.

Reef fish have a VERY different set of needs.

Most reef fish demand a surprisingly large territory, way way more than almost any freshwater fish of comparable size. They also demand habitat - in particular species appropriate places to hide and species appropriate swimming space. And this is before you get into Conspecific aggression that can seriously limit tankmates.

A LFS can semi get away with much smaller tanks than ideal, because the fish are there on a very temporary basis and are either juveniles or aren’t in the tanks long enough to establish territory. Even then, fish stores see much higher fatalities than a hobbyist would tolerate.

I think a lot of folks here will be surprised if these fish make it six months. Most likely outcomes are you’ll either end up with one clown, or zero fish after the tang kills the others and then dies of stress related illness.

Based on what I've seen with my own tank, less flow is better than too much. My anemone has responded fairly well keeping that in consideration.

Some anemones are fond of flow, others not so much.
You have not provided us any pictures to work with either.
Those would be helpful.
I'm keeping my fish comments to myself but, suffice to say I have 3 fish in a 100 gallon
