How often does zeolite (filer media) needs to be replaced? How do you know if it has run its course?

Hi

Every 3 or 6 months. Take some put it in a cup drop some blue methylene in it. If it absorbs it, it is still working if not then change it.

Regards,

Do not use zeolite for reefing, throw it out. Don't use it for freshwater, either. Don't replace it: throw it out.

Why r u using it

One reason possible: in a qt, for ammonia control/ not the best way but one possible use. No other use though, and nobody uses zeo in the disease forum they upcycle the qt correctly instead. It's use in reefing is .001%

What are you expecting it to do?

if it is just a place to house bacteria, then it need not be replaced.
