im 45 and have been reefing off and on since 1994. The hobby has seen alot of changes since i got started. i remember going to a B.A.R.S meeting and seeing a presentation on sps where these guys were getting sps to actually grow under MH lighting. I couldn't believe it! I was doing good to keeping my fish alive at that point. The only coral I would even consider was a plate coral, fungia, they would last 6 months or so. protein skimmers were in their infancy at that point.

Wow, it's hard to imagine reefing without good lights, and a protein skimmer. I love hearing how the hobby has evolved over the years. Also, good to see such a variety of reefers out there!

20 years old. I have had a saltwater tank since I was 17 years old. This summer was the first time I created a reef tank.

I'm 44, started with FW when I was 16 switched over to Saltwater fish only in my early 20s and started a "reef" tank (softies and sun corals) a couple years later. I took about 17 years off and just started back up about 7 months ago!

40, for a few more weeks anyway... I've had a reef tank (or two...) of some sort since 2007

38 for the next couple of months....started my first reef 2 years ago after a previous FOWLR and many FW tanks.

I am 24, turning 25 in about 2 months. : (

I started up my first saltwater tank at the tender age of 17. Good times.

33, old enough to know better, but young enough to still not care. Been it in hobby for over a decade now, amazing how many changes have happened in my time.
