How to clean Red Sea Reefcan

Hey folks,
after about a month of using Reefcan, I measured TDS inside and it was about 14, so I unplugged the whole thing (pump and tube was slimy on touch) and started clening it by just basically shaking the rest of the water inside, then poured some new rodi water and did it again, but I feel like there needs to be some best practice to it - like using a bleach solution maybe? Am I correct? Sorry for the newb question and thank you!

You could rinse it out with some bleach water, scrub it out with a long handled brush as well. Just make sure you rinse it out really well after wards. If it is holding your RO water, it shouldn't have any TDS nor feel slimy.

Hello, I noticed the very same thing. I used my TDS meter to measure the RO/DI water in the container and it was 28. I also measured my RO/DI water in the large container I store it in and it was 0. I measured the TDS in the 5 gallon jug I transport my RODI water to my ReefCan and it was also 0.

I've been dealing with a diatom bloom for about 2 months. My nitrates are 5ppm and phosphates .15.

I emptied the reefcan again and poured fresh RODI water. I ran my ATO and it pumped out 0 TDS.

I'm going to keep an eye on it. I did not have any kind of slime residue.
