I feel like this use to be easy and you would just check an option and could grab it at the HUB. My understanding is there is no more HUB pick up anymore.

So do I pay for UPS my choice and then there is an option once it is shipped?

I assume it would get there before the UPS store closed? My nightmare would it being stuck at the UPS store overnight because they are closed. I am told they deliver to businesses earlier and UPS store is technically a business even if it is their own...

I live in the boonies so UPS does not come here till 8pm, not great for living things. I could pay for 10am delivery but they still come at 8pm in my area. They will take my extra $$ without telling me... but oh ya 10am isn't for your area... but thank you for the $ :P

Just trying to get these critters sooner.

I did this years ago so easy but doesn't seem like it is straight forward anymore...

My local hub was closed as well. Now I have my coral shipped to the local UPS store. They do charge $5

Where is this option? Do you do it on UPS choice after the package is shipped?

I don't see anywhere to pay the extra fee on check out and if I put in UPS store address there, my understanding is it could be rejected. Trying to figure out the correct way to do this.

Do you pay for 10am delivery there or no difference you think?

@Biota_Marine I am wanting to place an order from you guys, just trying to figure out how to not have it on the truck till 8pm.

I have a local hub when FedX ships from IndoPacific SeaFarm in Hawaii

Funny you should mention this. Mr. Heslinga reached out to me before my last order and asked if I could drive across town to another hub. He has run into several issues with the hub closest to me and will no longer ship to addresses they serve. I found it amazing that he kept that level of detail and willing to reach out before shipping to work with the hobbyist.

@Tamberav by any chance did you reach out to the vendor and see what options they have? They may be able to provide a couple options that may help.

Gerald Heslinga is top rate. Ten years ago, I meet him in Dallas where he was speaking at a conference. He passed on an opportunity for PHD in micro biology at Harvard to partner with Walt Smith and build coral farms for islanders in the IndoPacific.

Have it shipped to a UPS Access Point (ex CVS drug store) that way they are inside in the climate control until you can pick them up later that day. They’re also the first drop offs of the day so they aren’t on a truck all day.

According to my mad google skills, you can not just put the address on the package without them risking refusing it?

Unfortunately calling my local UPS to ask has proven useless as they do not pick up.

I do see this on UPS my choice, maybe I can just turn it on once the package is shipped.

I believe fedex is a lot easier and can still use HUBs.

Dumb question, I apologize but do you have a friendly neighbor? I used this a couple years back when we had a lot of random theft in our neighborhood. I don't want to assume that you are in a larger development or neighborhood and know that some are lucky to live on acreage or a bit more distance between homes.

ugh

Not worried about theft, I am just at the end of route so the packages sit on the truck all day and it is winter so everything arrives around 55 degrees.

Uhh well I can only speak from my personal experience but I use a local CVS that’s a UPS access point and I just put my name on it and the address of the CVS and they hold it for me. It doesn’t cost anything for me. You can go here and search for a UPS access point near you. It’ll say “UPS Access Point (R)” and then their address. It’s not the same thing as a UPS hub. They’re local businesses that become Access Points to increase foot traffic into their store. The trucks drop off there first.

When I've done it, I ask the seller/shipper to hold for pickup and gave the address/location of the hub.

I just received an order from dr.reef and it was an option on his website. Maybe it is something the shipper has to work out with UPS.
When I tracked the order in shipment I remember there being an option for me to change between UPS access point and home delivery. That might be available for any delivery you are tracking.

Thanks guys, UPS never picked up the phone but realized @Biota_Marine has a chat option on their website and they were able to tell me how to do a hold for pickup.
