How to get GSP to extend

I've had a half dollar sized frag of metallic gsp for about 4 months and it is growing well. Everytime I see gsp in someone else's tank the polyps are very long and hair like. The polyps on mine are only about 1/4 long. I have mine in strong lighting and high flow but still very short polyps. Would less flow help for them to get longer?

I have mine in a low flow area and the polyps are extended.

Mine are extended but not very long

I think depend on what kind of GSP you have, some extended long, some extended short, 2 have 2 different kind in my tank, one is long, one is short
