How to get MP40 controller/dry side passing through stand...??

Forgive my ignorance. First time Ecotech powerhead user here. I'm seeing that the dry side connects to the controller, but there is no way to disconnect them. I haven't tried yanking the cords very hard because I don't want to break it, but is this correct? They don't disconnect?

Now I'm wondering how to run them through the stand, as neither side fits through the hole in the stand. I'm not cutting a huge hole to fit this strange piece of equipment through, so...??? I'm at a loss here.

Undo the screws on the back of the controller and take the two halves apart, you can then unplug the cord from the controller board. Has a small white plug on it. Had to do this with mine to get them routed the way I wanted too.

You can also buy extensions for the cords that have instructions on how to do this.
