How to remove a small aptasia from frag

Hey guys. I got a frag and did dip it in Revive, so not sure how the aptasia survived, or if it's even alive. But just noticed it now its in my tank.

The frag is on the sand bed so thinking of just removing it and getting it off somehow.

Should Revive have killed it? Maybe I didn't dip for long enough.

No, revive, nor any other dip will kill aiptasia. If you have a pic, might be able to be more helpful. If it’s on the frag plug and you can snap the coral off and glue to a new plug, do that. Otherwise, aiptasia x, lemon juice or kalk paste has worked for me in the past

Revive won't kill it. In my experience, even Aiptasia-X et al only stun it and encourage more aggressive replication. Aiptasia has a reputation for a reason- once in your system it's incredibly difficult to get rid of.

Can't get a clear picture tonight, my camera on my phone must be shocking. The aiptasia is actually on the skeleton of a Blasto frag.

Unless it was a particularly expensive and/or precious frag I'd toss it, or at the very least isolate it for treatment. I once added a favia frag with aiptasia and while it's impossible to say if it was truly the source, within 6 months it was on the back wall, all over the rocks and at the base of corals. I initially treated with Aiptasia-X and later a UV pen but that just seemed to accelerate replication.

If it is not right on the coral itself, you can mix up a little dry salt with a little bit of water to make a paste. Gently cover the aiptasia with that and it will die. You may have to put that paste on a few times as it washes off. And turn off the pumps for this.

It's on the sand bed at the moment. I can just remove the frag and do it outside of the tank. Do you know if vinegar would do any harm to the old skeleton of a Blasto? Or would using salt like you mentioned be better? I could then cover the spot where it was with epoxy to

just cover it with a thick cover of salt. Thick enough that it doesn't fall off and put more on if it falls off. In 15 minutes or so, the thing will disintegrate

I took it out, use lemon juice and then put glue over it. Hopefully it didn't spread beforehand. No signs that it did yet

F-Aptasia because it moulds around the pest, goes solid, and is simply pulled out of the DT whole in a few days.

Way, way better than Aptasia-x.
