I've got an old wave maker I'm looking to reuse. It's got a heap of dried algae on it... What's the easiest way to remove it without having to buy some specialist products?

I always use anhydrous citric acid (you can buy the food grade powder) but that really only melts calcium buildup and coraline.

You really have to brush those off with a scraper and brush

Vinegar. Soak it for a while 30-45 minutes or a couple hours then scrub it with a toothbrush.
This 👆 If you want something less stinky, you could try citric acid. Do not use soap or bleach.
