We've had a couple of reefers this week experience huge coral losses. While devastating, it can also be a learning experience.
How many have endured this situation and how did you recover from it, what did you learn from such loss and what advice can you offer to others?

I have had pests and alk swings (Darn the reactor when they decide to malfunction!) and the take home for me is wonderment.

How do coral reefs survive in the ocean without a pH probe or a CO2 regulator?

Our systems require attention and maintenance to keep them stable. Any distractions or disruptions can quickly start a cascade of losses.

I was glad this thread was hypothetical @vetteguy53081 - there have been two many catastrophic incidents in recent weeks and I am glad not to read about another one.

I lost a bunch of corals once, I believe because I let my ro/di filters go to long and chloramine got in.
The way I dealt with it was basically to not panic, accept the loss, and give things a long time to recover (months) before attempting to add more.

Yup, just never leave your house again and you'll never lose anything. 😂
I always get nervous when I have to go somewhere. I hate it.
