Humphead Bannerfish / Heniochus variius
SCIENTIFIC NAME -Heniochus Variius
COMMON NAME -Humphead Bannerfish
SIZE - 7.9"(20 cm)
MIN. AQUARIUMSIZE - 75 US Gal. (284 L)
FOODS AND FEEDING– The Humphead Bannerfish eats finely chopped meaty food, vitamin enriched brine shrimp, crustacean flesh, mysid shrimp, and frozen preparations for herbivores. Should be fed a minimum of 3 times per day.
REEF COMPATIBILITY – With caution. May nipsome sessile invertebrates and stony coral polyps.
CAPTIVE CARE – The Humphead Bannerfish takes longer to acclimate to captivity than many other species in the Butterfly family (recommend min. 4 weeks or until eating aggressively). This species should be housed with small peaceful tank mates, as it will not acclimate well if harassed or if there is too much activity in and about the tank by the aquarist. It can be kept in a shallow or deep water reef tanks if fed frequently and prefers live rock to graze on with plenty of hiding places. The Humphead Bannerfish can be kept in pairs if introduced at the same time.
