no .....nothing woll eat them and they are very hard to get rid of...they have a root base that is inside the rock....if you can cut the piece off that they are on...... as soon as you see them get rid of them....they spread very fast and drift on the current till they find a new place to grow...then you have 2 colony's of them.....i think complete darkness will kill them after awhile....good luck
killing the light won't do a thing.I regularly run total darkenss for 3 days at a time in my tank and they are still there. I have them in my tank and they have been around for a while but they are starting to spread now so I will try some Kalk paste and see what happens. I don't think dipping will do anything to them either. From what I know they are rooted deep in the rocks.
I have a blue sponge that eats it. It grows around and consumes it. I will try to find a picture I took a while back and post it. Kalk also works but is a little messy.
