I’m brand new to hydros and controllers and I can’t seem to figure out how to do what I want to with hydros… I have and x4 and sole continuos/heavy duty pump. I dose kalkwasser from a 40 gallon drum. I would like to set a program to keep PH stable, the way Chris Meckly does. So what I want to program is…with dynamic dosing, I want to dose all my saturated kalk water when ph drops a ph 8.3. Since it is only dropping at night that’s when I want the dosing occur but I’m not sure I need to schedule the time. Basically, it’s my top off water. Can someone show me how I’d set this up? I want to dose 9460mls of limewater in total, using the 8.3 ph as a low point trigger. I would like to keep that dose spread out instead of a big dose. I figured out how to set up continuous dosing over 24hrs which is what I was previously doing but I really wasn’t to stabilize ph as my primary dosing goal rather that alkalinity. Thanks fellow reefers!

Are you setting up the pump using continuous dosing set in the pump output? If so setup another output using advanced family and generic output type set it for one input and use pH for the input. There will be a high setting and a low setting. Set the low setting to where you want it to come on if it drops. the set the outer where you want it to go off if it gets that high. The set has schedule to on and setup the schedule when you want the pump to run. The go to the pump output and set the depends on to the output created and set the dependency mode to off if off. Then the pump will follow the output created but will run at the flow rate you setup in the pump output. Hope this helps.

Yes, I think it does! I’m going to attempt it and see how it goes. If I get stuck can I reach back out for help, lol? Standard metered dosing seems a little more straight forward. I’ve been putting a bunch of effort into making it do what I want without a ton of success just yet!

I use this on my ATO using a Sole as the pump. I can post the ATO output and the pump output. The first three screenshots are the original ATO output. When I got the Sole I set the output device to none in this original ATO output. I then setup the output for the Sole which is the 4th screenshot. Run constantly is turned on. It is set to run at a flow rate of 55ml a minute. The depends on is set to the original ATO output and dependency is set to off if off. This forces the Sole output off if the ATO output is off. If the ATO output is on the Sole output will also be on and flow a 55ml a minute. So it is basically the same as controlling a standard pump with a 55ml flow rate with the ATO output. The only other way to use a smart doser is using a dosing schedule. Instead of the ATO output you will need to create an output using the generic output type with the schedule and the pH input to turn it on if the pH is below where you want it and it is during the scheduled time.

I think I got it based on my your first answer to my post. I set it to only run after 9pm and end at 8am. I set it to come on at 8.3 ph and set the flow rate to my top off volume to be dosed in that time frame. I will tinker with the volume to get it right. I would love to get my tank to run 24/7 pegged to 8.3-8.4 ph, and supplement with 2 part as needed so that is why I’m trying to accomplish. My PH on dip after lights out, my kalk dosing was philosophy. Thank you so much! Some of the hydros instructions leave a little to be desired, especially for something is that’s not a standard practice like what I’m trying to do!

Hydros does have a facebook group that you can join. There is usually someone on there that will answer any questions you may have. There is also a Hydros forum but usually the facebook group will give more responses quicker but the forum is easier to search for topics on.
