I am building a couple "dumb" dosers. They are just a power on/off type thing, and dosing will be based on time. Basically like the existing Hydros 2mL/min doser (AC) or the Hydros Single Dosing Pump (drive port), just using 3.3mL/min dosing heads I already have on hand to get smaller, more precise doses than the Minnow will give me.

I have the parts on hand here to power them off a drive port (X2 or X4) OR an AC outlet (XP8). I'm just wondering if there is any real advantage to one option over the other. Like, do the drive ports switch faster than the AC outlets, or is it the same basic "2.5 second" minimum?

I have available drive ports, and I also have available AC outlets. Just wondering if there is an advantage to one over the other.

Drive ports will have a faster off/on time over an AC plug. Drive ports are controlled using power FETs and ac outputs are mech relays. But generally doubt you’d notice any big issues going either way.
