So let's say that the owner of the company you work for has learned that you have a reef tank. And comes to you and asks you to set up and care for a reef tank for the customer lounge of his business. (there are no company's in the area that he can outsource this and that's why he came to you) He will pay you to care for it, but you have to do it during non working hours. You have a budget of $5,000, and it cannot be larger than 4 feet long and has to be relatively self sufficient as it's closed on the weekends. What do you build and what do you stock it with?

Lol.
IMO, Start with the least expensive controller with heat and leak alerts. None of the silly fancy stuff.

Feed pellets to hardy fish.
The rest is easy.
;)

And yea , I always wondered how that would go at work.

This just sounds like it all can't end well. I'd be a bit leery doing this. What happens if there's a problem during working hours? Do you tell the boss "Sorry, I can't address the tank issue until after 5Pm."

That said, I'd find out want aquarium maintenance companys get in your area and charge that same amount. Don't under-sell yourself. This guy wants it in off-hours, so charge accordingly.

Now the great part about this is if your aquarium maintenance fee was greater than your current hourly compensation.. :D

I'm sure if something happened during work hours leaving my post to go attend to it wouldn't be a problem :) (If it were for me, this is hypothetical of course ;) )

That would be fantastic! But I probably make to much at my regular job
