My local and only real lfs that has coral sells frags starting at 25 and they are very small or only have a polyp or three on it. I wish I could get 5-10 dollar frags.

I guess since there is only one they have the monopoly and can charge what they want. We have quite a few all around pittsburgh, not all are good, but they still help keep prices somewhat in check.

Yes I live in small town Delaware and it is either one lfs that has coral or petco needless to say selection isn't always the best and most time I turn to mail order which then you get hit with shipping unless you place a big order.

That is a pretty darn good deal on the frags, and they are health.

@ReefQueen this is a Purple Scroll (Turbinaria reniformis) awesome find! :D

Dang it, you are totally right! I guess I better move it up higher then. Grrrr, one of these days I will find a cyphastrea in that frag tank lol. I knew those polyps weren't right! I've seen these things get huge, I guess it'll be my excuse for an upgrade lol

Yes you have a good eye! I feel like Purple Scrolls are fairly uncommon and until they grow out, they can easily be mistaken for a Cyphastrea with the polyps retracted. Haha either way they're both pretty neat.

Haha I would tend to disagree, I am at the point where I have to get new glasses every year and they "won't let me see 100%" because of my wacky prescription. But I will squint really hard one day and will see that cyphastrea of my dreams appear. Until then I will keep buying all the "maybes" haha. But for $5 I can't complain. I almost bought an all green scroll a few months ago, but passed up on it because of the size. This one is much nicer looking and much smaller, so definitely a good grab:)

If you happen to come across a WWC Bizarro Cyphastrea, spend the extra $$$ I promise you won't regret it... Haha
If I ever saw any cyphastrea at the LFS I would totally grab it, I will probably have to just order some online at some point because it doesn't seem popular in this area. I bet after I order some is when I'll find it in the frag tank lol

Here's a pic of my Bizarro. I personally prefer to keep the growth contained by mounting it to frag disks opposed to letting it take over my rockscape. Haha I've learned my lesson with a basic meteor shower pretty much engulfing a rock and killing everything in it's path...

The nice part about contained growth is that you can pop the plug off and replace the disk once it's fully encrusted then have a ton of frags for your friends (]:

It's gorgeous and I'm jealous lol. I have a whole (easily movable) rock I've been saving for cyphastrea.

Sorry I just saw the second half. Yeah the $5 frag tank gets me every time, it's buy 5 get 1 free too! They really had some goodies tonight lol. It's often a lot of shrooms and zoas (which they had too), but I did get an adorable little fungia in the $15 section, so I'm not a total cheapo hahaha.
Hey Reef Queen, sorry but I can't come to Pitt, but did bring San Diego to NY. Spent 6-7 hrs for reorganization. Finally caught my bully damsel. Yesterday. And got my delivery from Aqua SD. Simply put, those plugs are sick. Very happy. Pics don't do them justice. They look just as advertised in last weekends sale, with a few freebies. Good company, great job, every frag popped. Just incredible! Here's the Maxi/ Mini - under blue lites it's yellow and purple.......very cool

Sorry I just saw this. Love that mini maxi! I think I will add one to my list lol. Glad you had a great experience with them, I think I will take a look and see what they have when I get this algae issue sorted:)

Sorry everyone that asked, I missed your question. The store is called aquaworld, it is off of Ohio River Blvd. I also heard the new petland in norwin is going to have a $5 frag tank. I don't usually think of quality when I think of petland, but the guy that owns this one seems like a good guy and cares about the livestock.i was actually rather impressed! I'll check it out in a few weeks to see if they have the frags in yet. It may become another stop on the Pittsburgh LFS tour lol.
