The hair algae has been getting a bit worse in some places and better in others. Yesterday I scuffed a whole bunch off the rocks and I put poly-fil in my HOB filter and am starting to wash that out daily to help with Nitrates. Do you guys think running some carbon just for right now could help the situation? It’s not a permanent thing just a bandaid for the moment until I can get an RODI unit.

No, not really. Manual removal, less feeding, less light, and water changes will help until you can buy the rodi.
