actually, my g/f won a free iPOD nano (2gb), but already has a cool blue 4gb iPOD nano. so she gave me this free silver one.

i was never really big into the iPOD craze, b/c being out of college, I have no clue where/how to download music for free anymore.

but this iTUNES thing is actually a pretty good deal for $1/song. the search function is wicked easy, even displays top 100, and most downloaded/popular by genre. no more sketchy quality songs, and sketchy downloading........

this thing is pretty darn cool....lol i already have like 1 songs on it, sounds way better than my cd player or the radio. but i can't imagine ever needing video, pics, calender, contact etc. i'd much rather have a palmpilot or other handheld PC device for that stuff.

I'M SOLD......lol GO iPOD!

ya know, the iTUNES thing is really not that bad of a deal for $1/song if you think about it.

average new CD costs $17-$20, and has an everage of 12 songs.

my g/f bought the new Linkin Park cd for like $18'ish i think. and on iTUNES, you can buy the entire CD worth of songs for like $12 or $13....

....i mean seriously, whats the point of CD's anymore?? lol

yeah, but its a major hassel.....cuz you dont know what kind of quality the song is until you hear it. and sometimes the download speeds varry, and can cut you off without notice.

the iTUNES even has a 20sec preview of each song so you can hear it first before you buy. and all the songs are top notch quality. so you wont have to keep searching for a good version.

that......and you never know when an internet company will sell you out (your IP address) so they can slip through the cracks of an impending lawsuit from the greedy record companies.

Sadly thought, due to DRM you are now locked into iTunes/Apple products unless you do some tricks to remove the DRM from the songs. Lucky for Apple there aren't a whole lot of high quality MP3 players out there, or people would probably be complaining a bit more.

Mp3 players are pretty fun. I wish I used mine more often but I guess that is why I got a small one.

I ended up going with the Creative Zen Nano Plus (1gb). It is in the same use range as the Ipod shuffle, because it is less expensive but can still hold a good amount of songs.

The Zen nano also has the ability to record audio (like a tape recorder, but I haven't tried it), has a FM receiver, comes with an arm band, doesn't require software to transfer music, but a very small screen. A good overall player for those of you who will use it a few times a year. I use mine when I fly for work or have to take the metro.

Man, I love my IPOD. I have the 60 gig version and almost have it filled. I also purchased a Kenwood receiver for my car and the IPOD kit for it. Now, when I get in my car, the IPOD runs off power from the alternator and also charges it while in use. I can also have full control of the IPOD from the car stereo, all while the IPOD is hid in my center console of the car.
