I have a Non-Reefing Plumbing Question...

So I purchased a BOSCH router and table. It's all assembled and ready to go. I have a small 2 1/2 gallon shop vac installed under the table.

The vacuum port is 2.25 inches, but the hose to the shop vac is only 1 inch. Is there such a thing as a 2.25 inch to a 1 inch reducer?

Make a transition box, with the 1" inlet where you want it, and the outlet of the size you need for your vacuum.

I think the bigger shop vacs have the bigger hose. I have a router that takes the bigger hose and you will want to go bigger as a router will throw out a lot of saw dust.

Yes. I agree. But I was trying to avoid the expense of a bigger vac. Also, room is extremely limited. I've actually outgrown the house. Never thought that would happen!

Yes, you can buy/make adapters to fit anything for dust collection, but I think you will find that your small shopvac is going to be quickly overwhelmed by your router.

Do what I do. Go to the home center with a tape measure and your dimensions and go to the PVC fittings. Start pulling off the shelves and fitting them together until you make up what you need. If the connection is lets say 1/32 off, seal it with duct tape. Your vac is a little small. If your are doing an ogee, do two passes and clean the vac after the first.

MORE POWER!!!! There is an adapter. It looks like the helmet from the "Whip it" video. We use it to step down to a 3/4" pipe so we can suck out the drain line to the AC. (It's a Florida thing, don't ask.)
That said... yeah, for the level of dust you are talking, go bigger. We have a dust collection system in our woodshop.

This thing is very cool. But I still have a 1 inch hose to connect into the setup.

The more I read, the better a 5 gallon she vac seems to be the answer.

Lol! you could always buy festool. I know thats not the answer you want to hear. Although, I must say. Since I got my first festool item... I won't buy anything else. I've been remodeling our house. When I have to sand or do actual stuff inside, their dust collection for their tools is amazing. Like zero dust when sanding.

@Billdogg Room is an issue. I've outgrown my house. Shopping. Something with room t build a nice 30'x30' shop. I'm seeking ideas that will allow me to bridge the gap as it were.

Kick the kids and the wife to a tent in the backyard??? Just think of all the room you'll have then!!!!:p

And FWIW - I feel your pain. When I finished the basement almost 20 years ago I made myself a HUGE shop - about 14x22, and my wife got a 300sf craft room too. When the water heater sprung a leak last year we decided that it was our chance to redo things a bit. Her Craft rooms now total over 600sf, my shop is now about 1400sf. FINALLY, I can set up workstations for each tool instead of spending half my time putting one thing away so that I can use something else. And heaven forbid I screw something up and have to repeat the process!
