So I came home today and my new seahorse tank has this strange layer of like fog in it. I’m not sure what it is or what to do. The seahorses seem fine. They even gave birth a few days ago. Any ideas? I’m not even sure this is an emergency.

Could the fog, be from seahorse broadcast spawning?

Just tossing it on the table for some input, looks like some species broadcast spawn.

lol
Seahorses are sure not my expertise... :D

From what I understand seahorse male fertilize the eggs after the female put it in there pouch’s.

lol, Yep

The male seahorse is equipped with a pouch on the ventral, or front-facing, side of the tail. When mating, the female seahorse deposits up to 1,500 eggs in the male's pouch. The male carries the eggs for 9 to 45 days until the seahorses emerge fully developed, but very small. The young are then released into the water, and the male often mates again within hours or days during the breeding season

My 1st instincts would be a bacterial bloom. How long has the tank been set up? more apt to happen in newer tanks. Make sure you have proper oxigenation(not a word) like surface agitation or a running skimmer. If a bacterial bloom it will go away on it;s on or you can use a uv sterilizer to clear it up right away.

When you mention new seahorse tank, could it be that the sand is new and was stirred up a bit? It should clear if that’s the case?
