I need extremely basic plumbing advice

I’m building a 12 gallon long tank with a custom acrylic in tank filter. The concept is exactly like a fluval spec v, but higher rate of flow and larger space for media.

I need a little help ordering the correct fittings and tubing.

Here’s the sequence:

Syncra Silent 1.5 pump (Outlet: 1/2" Female NPT or 3/8"-9/16" Hose)
Tubing (about 5 inches vertical out of the pump)
Elbow adapter/bulkhead (this part goes through the acrylic panel)
Spin stream nozzle

It would be cool if the outflow was minimalist in appearance. Aside from that, I’m just a confused beginner trying to order the right stuff the first time.

Your last chamber will be your return section and will need a hole drilled in the top of your aio wall for the bulkhead and spray bar or nozzle. Whatever you use. Locline is what most use.

You need baffles still.

Yep that part makes sense to me. I’m waiting on the pump before I finish the acrylic work.

The part I’m really stuck on is ordering the tubes and fittings. It’s not obvious for a beginner and there’s a million products.

Think my 9g aio had 5/8" diameter tube and didnt even have a bulkhead. Just a hole for the push in fitting in your link. The 90 elbow. Than the nozzle fits on the other side of your wall. Seal wont matter their. It will matter on the sides and bottom of your main aio wall. If that makes sense... lol where the display and aio wall meet.

So 1/2 inch...and yes it does make sense what you’re saying about flow. The panel isn’t a perfect fit but I believe the silicone will do the trick.

Ya. You could prob get all the little plastic.pieces and hose at mclendons hardware if you have 1 local.

Teeth. This will be your.overflow into the 1st chamber and will set your water level for the display.

Noted and thanks for mentioning the water level. Just regular 1/2 silicone tubing, like the stuff you’d use for brewing beer? Or perhaps you can recommend better?

I gutted my aio and made it just an open tank. The hose i just looked at said 1/2" od and 3/8" dia.
Od is outside diameter. So ya smaller if you can but i dont think 1/2" would hurt. Easier to work with and get parts for too prob. The 1/2"

Yup regular clear id tubing from the harware store.
Plastic.hose clamps if need be but hot water and pressure fit is best.

I’m really close. About the hose clamps vs other options, could you make a recommendation? I was under the impression I just jam the hose over a barbed connector but what do I know.

Yup u r correct. Heat up with hot water.under a running sink and push fit on.
