Hi all, we recently lost ALL of our fish in a matter of a couple of weeks. 12 in total. They showed no symptoms if ich or a visible parasite. A couple of them were flashing and rubbing against the sand, then they would hide and die one by one. All of my shrimp survived, ALL parameters are perfect, coral is thriving beautifully. I've been researching and can only assume it was Velvet? Of course, I couldn't treat them due to coral/LR and I do not currently have a QT (next purchase!!)

If it was Velvet, how long do i need to keep my DT fish-free and be confident the disease is gone?

I would go fallow for 12 weeks to be safe. Between 8-10 would likely be ok, but no sense in risking it.

And sorry for your losses as well :(

P.S. Only physical symptom I noticed were that the purple tang and yellow tang became very skinny, despite eating (loved the Nori). they were the first to die.

Go 60 days at least, than try one fish with the same water in another tank, if it's still there,,,, you won't regret having a qt

Just go the full 12 weeks, no reason to take a chance. Will give you time to properly qt any fish 4 weeks.

That's the way I see it jduck. It was traumatic enough to commit to the full 12 weeks...
When you QT, do you treat them proactively, or just observe? I've heard both.
