Ah.., I am sorry to hear. What bit did you use? I've drilled dozens of acryl, plexiglass with a hole saw drill bit, but I can use a glass bit and take it slow, no rush. I have to drill anyway to connect my external pump

Its stupid mistake, I usually use the wood bits that work on things like brute can so thought it would work,., However, at the last minute i decided to use a bosch drill bit that instantly cracked it. I was using the sump for a frag tank so wasnt paying much attention and was in a rush! $600 dollar mistake!

I am very proud of the plumbing I did on that system as it never had any issues with salt creeps in nearly 2 years.

It also gave me the skillset to do this kind of plumbing on my current system. The closed loop plumbing above the tank was very challenging and had little room for error.

Make sure you get the proper drill bit for acrylic. I completely destroyed my sump when drilling a hole.

So... I did the drill, after all, it worked fine for me. I drilled 3 large 65 mm (~2.6") between ATO and return pump chamber. I now use the former return pump chamber for the UV DC pump ( I can adjust the flow) and retuned the UV water in the former ATO chamber -the same place where the external pump is now plumbed. This way, I will avoid missing filtration steps by placing the UV pump somewhere else in the sump. I build a small two baffles section for the UV return pump to catch the bubbles, and I plumb directly into former ATO the ATO tube from my fresh water tank.
