They were all dry. Started with dry everything except for 10lbs of live sand. And soaked the rocks in bleach for 2 days and let dry in sun for almost a week. Tank is 16 months old.

Never had one. Had a lettuce nudibranch like 8 months ago. Whatever it was, I killed it with a baking soda and peroxide mix.

With the way the base spreads (at the top), it looks too fleshy to be a coral, so my first thought would be an anemone of some kind - you can see the tentacles curling underneath with some (presumably) mesenterial filaments, so if it's not a nem, it's an LPS coral.

As stated, though, a nem (an unhealthy one) would be my first thought.

ChatGPT said it was a hydroid, but whatever it was, I didn't put it in the tank, so I killed it. Needed the acclimation box for the tomini tang i just bought.

Not a hydroid and not filaments but in alignment with a very distressed or dying anemone

Hard to tell from the angle, but +1 to injured/unhappy anemone with some mesenterial filaments hanging out. Foot stuck to the glass on the upper part of the picture, tentacles and filaments facing down.

No anemones in the tank. I did have a couple of aiptasia a few months ago, added 2 peppermint and 1 kuekenthali cleaner shrimp, haven't seen any since. So I guess it's possible.
