Hi found this little crabby with something on him, it appears to be a sponge not sure....

Interesting, as that does look like a whote sponge.

Looks like an Emerald crab to me. Prob a sponge on his side like you said. Not harmful, actually helpful in keeping algae at bay especially bubble algae!
