Hey guys, I’ve had this Halloween hermit for about a month now. He’s always had that weird growth, what appears to be a second smaller shell attached to him. In the last week or so the second shell has become partially detached and this weird looking critter has been popping out to feed. It appears to be a long, black snail like creature, at least its small mouth looks similar to snail mouths. Any ideas on what this is?

Update:
This is a hoof snail. Lives on their host and picks up things stirred up by them. Or their waste. But not a parasite.

It could have been with the conch and have its shell picked up after death, or more likely just took a ride on the shell after the hermit took it.

Hey thanks for your replies and help! My video doesn’t appear to be working, are you able to view it?
