This leather was in the back of my tank. I pulled the small rock its attached to to relocate and noticed these on the base. Could someone tell me what they are?

Boy they resemble clove and Sympodium with the exception of color, these guys are pretty much brown. Are these from the same family?

Clove polyps comes from the family Clavulariidae. Sympodium comes from the family Xeniidae. Sympodium is closely related to Xenia. Cloves are in a different Sub Order entirely. Weird right?
 
Keep an eye on this type of coral. It can over take real estate in a tank quickly. It's all fun and games until he coral is covering every rock and wall. :-)
