I think you're spot on. You need to remove that mushroom or its going to kill that Trach. Trachs should have 2 distinctive lobes (like an infinity symbol but not as skinny in the middle) and the tissue recession is what is keeping this one from having that shape.Looks like a Trachyphyllia which gets stung by thos Discosoma.
