Hello fellow reefers,

Sorry for the poor picture quality but can I get an ID on this snail I’ve just seen in my tank for the first time, the shell is less than 10mm long.

Thanks in advance

Dom

Thank you for the replies and sorry for my late reply back (been away and had no internet access). I’ve seen it on a couple of occasions since and I’ve been able to have a good look at it, on looking at the snout there is a specific pattern (like a tattoo) on the flesh so I’m pretty certain it is a whelk. Therefore, should I keep it or remove it?

Thanks again

Dom

If you didnt add it. And its climbing on the rocks i would bet its a whelk.

Agree completely! I'd also add I rarely see my nassarius on the rocks, usually only on the sand. I would be concerned that's a whelk (predatory snail)
