It looks like cyano, blow it off with a turkey baster, what are your nitrates and phosphates and how old is the tank?
Looks sulky but ok to me.

Are you running any phos or nitrate media?
Do you have a build thread?
No build thread. I’m currently running a reefer350 with a 150 regal skimmer. Have a small refugium with cheato. Looks like it’s growth stopped in the last 3 weeks or so. Just running carbon and filter floss. I had a pretty good algae bloom about a month ago. Hooked up my uv sterilizer. It took care of that but I’m thinking that was the main route cause of cleaning my water to well? I’ve had a salt tank years ago but I’m still fairly new to hobby so open to suggestions.

I would try pulling the cheato ( store it), see how your numbers go for a week or two, just my opinion there are lots of ways to deal with this, this is balancing your tank, observation of your inhabitants helps.

Thank you! Appreciate your help! I will try that, what is the best way to “ store the cheato”?

cleaned it off, kicked up flow some and fed it. It seemed much happier before lights went off(didn’t get a picture) hopefully will look the same in the morning.

Can you elaborate on dumping skimmate back into tank? For my own knowledge, first time I’ve heard of that.
