So the pictures are gone, but this website's kreisel design was really influential on my ideas back in high school. Luckily, the Youtube channel is still up, and there's a working video of what the finished product is supposed to look like. But something got to me the other night: while it would still need to be supplemented, why not just do a "pseudo-pond" this way?
Theoretically, one could stock the outside of the kreisel with something like Apocyclops. By fitting an appropriate size mesh over the pump intake (or alternatively, put the pump into a mesh lined enclosure), one could take the nauplii out of the not-kreisel area and put them into the kreisel, either to be held in there using appropriately sized mesh, or to be washed out using a larger sized mesh. One could also use chaetomorpha to keep water quality decent as well...
One would probably still need to dose phytoplankton (Isochrysis?) and supplement feed though. The question is what are other pros/cons to this type of setup. Anyways, what're people's thoughts on this?
