Hello, can someone help me as I now have carpel tunnel and I’m crosseyed as I’ve been trying to identify these 3 tank inhabitants for 3 days with no luck on here or “THE GOOGLE”. Haha

The first one will fold up if bothered. Also will become completely “deflated” and super small sometimes. Has tripled in size over last 5 months since I started the tank. He has kind of a greenish yellow hue body.

The second I just noticed as I moved that live rock to a new spot.

Looks like clove polyps to me...but not 100%

I agree, looks like cloves.

+1 on clove polyps. The last one looks like a hairy mushroom.

I had some of these on a zoa frag and they almost outcompeted them. I took a dentist pick and removed them.

They can become a nuisance if left to their own devices. Manual removal is the only effective control method I have found.

Yes live rock, they also brought some aptasia with them as well. Lol

I did think they were maybe cloves as well but the picture os blown way way and waaaay up. They are really tiny like 1-2 mm across

Lol. Please tell me they are not blue clove polyps.

You can either have a tank entirely covered in them or you can Get them out now.

Originally I wanted them. From reading thread after thread, the general consensus is they will take over to the point of crowding out the base of other corals after a few years.
The 1st year they just fill in every open spot.

They were very popular years ago when they were 1st discovered.

Then everyone was very excited that they would spawn in the tank because this was a time when all you could do was mostly kill SPS corals. Softies and LPS were the corals most people could grow.
