If you had to assign a value

What would you guys say a fair value is for a 96 x 30 x 30 planet aquarium. All low iron glass. Vertical seam guards and pvc bottom. Tank and stand in excellent condition. Tank & stand only! No other livestock or equipment.

Nice. Hope you can get it for at least 50% of wholesale. Used tanks, especially large ones are a huge undertaking and commitment. And a dream if they work out. GL!

Value is such a relative proposition. Large tanks are much like real estate; you generally need someone fairly local who has both the interest and the funds today. I'd say quite a bit less. Wait it out, and they'll eventually go through the stages of grief and just want to get rid of it.

I had a high-end stair machine that cost $1,700... wife's idea. After we moved and had less space, I tried to sell it; it was just five years old. Crickets. I ended up giving it away for literally nothing to make space. Tanks are probably better than exercise equipment, but still....

I have a planet 280 that I am moving from my office. Well I’m moving it to my house unless I buy something else. Love the tank just got proposed with the option of an 8’ so I figured it was worth considering. I have no complaints with my 6’ other than it’s not 8’ which in the grand scheme isn’t that much of an issue

It's hard to find that what we have isn't worth what we thought-- I've been on the wrong side plenty of times-- but markets are rarely wrong. You might end up with that 8' tank for a bargain.

He says anything less than $3,500 he’s moving it with him. Whether that holds true a few months from now is to be determined. However I’m not waiting that long. In the next 2-3 weeks I’m moving my 280 if I pass on his. I do agree everyone would like to think when they’re selling it’s worth gold and if they were to buy the same item it’s worthless. So while I think it’s somewhat of a deal. Better than buying new. The location sweetens the deal. I don’t think it’s the deal of a lifetime

This is exactly size of my tank, only mine is acrylic 3/4 panels all around. Got it used for $1700. That same size was $3400-4000 At that time when I looked new. I will say, its awesome tank dimensions.

I would agree. I’ve heard from multiple people that he paid 10K for tank and stand brand new. I’m still looking to source for myself. I know a brand new glass cages like that was around 6k not counting shipping if I remember correctly. Maybe 5.5k

I just checked a similar tank on DFW Aquarium's website. MSRP on the tank is north of $7 grand, so $10k is probably not far off with a stand.

That's probably just for bare tank, each overflow, additional hole drilled its all add on to the price. By the time its delivered to your house price will be doubled I bet

Only you can answer that. I personally would strongly consider it if something like that came along and I was already considering an upgrade. Would definitely not pay what he's asking if I were only window shopping.
