IM 25 Lagoon Lid Dilemma

I'm currently in the process of trying to get my Innovative Marine 25g lagoon in a state that I'm happy with. The next thing I want to address is the Lid. Currently I have a cheap DIY kit that uses magnets and plastic clips to hold on a mesh top. Words cannot describe how much I hate this thing, the plastic comes undone and the mesh sits in the water all the time. Its gotten to the point where there is algae growing on the lid!

Anyway looking into lids for this tank I have a few different options, I can get the innovative marine lid for about $60 a kraken for $160 or a clearview for $130. My question is if the more expensive lids are actually worth it. I'm partly worried about the innovative marine lid not being the best quality. Its literally just one of their DIY kits pre made. However I'm also having a hard time justifying spending half of what I did on the tank for a lid.

If anybody could give any feedback/advice it would be appreciated !

I like the kraken one. Plus it'll be worth it in the long run when it's not something you need to deal with anymore.

I have the IM 25 lagoon and I don't have any kind of screen or lid on that tank (because I have no fish to jump), but I also have several of the IM 10's and 15's, and I have the IM screen tops on all of those. My very oldest IM 10 had a top that rested on four plastic clips that was not the best setup. The newer IM screen tops sit down in the tank, look great, and fit perfectly. I have no reason to doubt the IM screen for their 25 lagoon is any less.

You could always try to make a mesh lid using a screen door repair kit from a local hardware store. That's what we did for our reef tank.

The current IM screen lids are, in my opinion, well made. I have one on a 15-gallon AIO and a 20-gallon AIO. For $20 you can add a Neat Aquatics feeding port anywhere you need it.

Thats good to know, I really wish I could go without a lid but ive had two fish jump since I had the tank.

I also have an IM25 Lagoon - no lids though. I've trained myself to not like wrasses (although they are super cool) since they like to jump! Unless you're planning to keep some jumpers, save yourself some $$ and just go "lid-less"? ha

Thats good to know, how usefull is the feeding port in your opinion? Ive never really been bothered by having to lift the lid to feed but I could see it being nice.

This is an IM 15 with the newer screen top, freshwater (gasp!). Please ignore the dust and funky looking spider plant, I might be slacking on some maintenance here

Lifting the lid (frame) is not a big, big, deal--but once you add the feeding port you will realize that you have regained your sanity for only $20.00. LOL!

With my IM lid I have to lift it from the back. There's no way to grip it from the front or the side, but there's an air gap between the lid and the tank by the rear chamber. I don't have that feeding ring but I'm honestly considering getting one because it can be a little tough removing the lid one handed (and I always have something else in my hand when I go to remove the lid).

I know this is an older post. I got the IM 25 Gallon Lagoon lid & it is perfect.
