But I already have the iPad firsts generation that's sitting here doing nothing. it would be nice If i could put it to some use. also I heard the new fire HD resolution is lower on horizontal and so only shows 2 rows of the fusion display instead of 3. how old is your fire hd and what is the resolution that it has

There’s a reason it’s sitting there doing nothing. As you have more or less stated yourself, A first gen iPad is an obsolete device. I have an old 2nd gen iPad that works, but barely.
