Welcome to my 40G AIO build. This is my second saltwater tank but its been 15 years between tanks, when I was in high school I had my first saltwater tank with a 40G FOWLR system that ran successfully for two years until hurricane Ike hit. We lost power for a couple of weeks and lost my fish after a couple of days without power. I always wanted to start another saltwater tank and had been lurking forums just waiting for the right time so here it is, I know long hiatus. This tank has been up for 3 months now and I've had some ups and downs but overall it's doing ok. I've lost a couple of fish that I need to identify the issue for but I will have another thread asking for help there. Below are the tank specs and some pictures from the beginning of the build to where it is now.

  • Tank: Innovative Marine 40 Nuvo Fusion Lagoon AIO
  • Stand: Innovative Marine White APS stand
  • Light: Aqua Illumination Hydra 32
  • Pump: MightyJet 538 GPH DC return pump
  • Powerhead: Aqua Illumination Nero
  • ATO: FZONE ATO (Amazon)r
  • Filtration: IM Custom Caddy w/floss + carbon + Biospheres; Intank floss holder
  • Heater/fans: Hygger 300W
  • Rocks: 20-30lb dry rock from LFS
  • Sand: CaribSea Special Grade Arag-Alive
  • RODI system: BRS 4 Stage 75GPD
  • Salt: Red Sea Coral Pro

I added an anemone in the beginning of May and it let loose of the rock and ended up in the power head. I put it in an "isolation container" and it has healed up nicely since. I thought it was a goner but as I was searching the web to see if it were dead I came across videos of propagating anemones and thought if they can survive that it should survive the power head as the foot wasn't injured only the tentacles. Here is a picture after removing from the power head.

Thank you everyone for the kind words. I am really enjoying the options of the all in one system and like that everything stays hidden. This is a plus as it is set up in the living room.

Here are some updated pictures of the tank with corals placed. Back in mid August I was battling cyano and that took daily manual removing to beat. Corals seem to be doing well everything is growing in well, even the acan is sprouting new heads this is very exciting. Happy Reefing Yall

Attached is a updated view of the 40 Gallon Reef.
Alot of changes have been made since the last update but this tank is thriving right now!

Wow! Amazing. What media are you using? And are you running a filter sock or two custom caddies?

Also how often are you doing water changes?! Beautiful tank.

Thank you.
I have some marine pure spheres in the back chamber as extra media. The tank came with one caddie that has filter floss up top and the rest is marine pure spheres. The other side is just filter floss.

I do water changes one a month and only supplementing with kalkwasser. Went through a bottle of all for reef but with no doser adding kalk to my ATO makes this much easier.

I will try and get some updates pictures as the tank has changed quite a bit but I appreciate your kind words.
