When the feeder is plugged into an apex var port, does it overwrite the daily feed cycles? Or does it still feed everyday regardless of apex programming?

As soon as it detects a controller, it disables the manual set feedingss.

I have just been feeding PE mysis for now but I need to start adding some variety... has anyone ran into anything they cant feed? I was going to maybe add bloodworms, rods herb/original?

I use Rods and was using LRS. I just chop it up frozen. Honestly, I haven’t had an issue with anything food wise.

Anything should be fine as long as it’s not frozen and chopped up into smaller pieces

Herbivore. But LRS discontinued it I was told. I have also gotten Salmon from the store and made food from that. But man, the oil content was intense.

I always chop my food to like 3/8-1/4” size. Works great. I used fresh salmon once and I was ill prepared for the oil content to contend with. It was like putting 5w20 in a Ferrari while driving through the South Pole

Nothing homemade here, but I will share what I use. I break up Frozen chunks of lrs Reef frenzy, PE mysis shrimp, arti-pods, and BRS freeze dried mysis shrimp. After it all thaws, I add salt water and sometimes selcon.

Do you just break up the LRS or actually chop it up? Curious because I've been afraid to just break it up and let it the slightly so i always chop it up in roughly 1/8" pieces.

I thaw the mix in 250ml beaker, then add in the liquid. I use a fork to stir it all together.

I've had my af4 for about four months and love the thing. It's made feeding sooooo much more consistent than us humans trying to remember to feed the fish. I use it to feed a variety of frozen foods (mysis, calanus, brine, baby brine) and I squirt some live Phyto Feast and about a teaspoon of Benereef whenever I refill it - about once per week. Everything in my tank is happier - corals and fish.

It's not perfect, but is nearly so for me. The amount of food that it feeds slowly drops over time - so the end of the week it doesn't feed as much at each feeding. I did buy the new feeding container, which significantly improved this feeding drop off. And I believe all of the new aF4's come with the new high-flow feeding container now. But other than that very small thing, it's been perfect for my tank.

I programed it with my Apex to feed 3 times per day, at the smallest food setting (5 mLs). And I use my Apex auto pellet feeder to feed another two small feedings per day. So starting at 9:15am my fish and corals get fed frozen or pellets every 2 hours and 15 minutes throughout the day. The af4 never forgets to feed.

It's been fine for me. I've seen some people have problems. Went to Italy for 2 weeks and it was good. I've probably used it for 2.5 months total but dont use it all the time if I'm around. They have a new "High flow" cup now that seems to help with the drop off in feeding after a week with the old cups. Even with the old cups I just added some extra fresh sw about a week in and never saw any drop off in feeding consistency

I also love it. I was a Kickstarter so got in early. Actually i have two of them since i travel a lot and have each one feeding once a day via my Apex plus pellet feeders. They're great but a bit noisy though only lasts a minute or two. Been using LRS that i chop small but based on posts above I'm going to try just thawing and breaking up and see what happens.

I don't have the new cups yet as they've been selling out but they are on my list to get.

It's been a lifesaver for me. Sure, it has it's problems, mostly that the amount can be inconsistent. it can be a bit of a pain to keep clean too. However, it has been reliable without any major beakdown and I've been using it over a year now.

I have a copperband butterfly that won't eat pellets, and this allows me to leave for work or vacation for a few days without stressing over feeding the fish. It's a great product and been a game changer for me.

I purchased my unit in May. Yesterday I did my first cleaning using the tablets. The YouTube video indicates to drop the tablet into a reservoir containing warm water and wait 10 minutes. My tablet never dissolved. Anyone else experience this?

How often is everyone cleaning the system? Mine showed up a few weeks ago and have been using it flawlessly since. Loving this thing! Currently on vacation, reason for purchasing it and watching it feed on camera last few days. It’s a game changer.
