Nice clean up- i finally got my 250 running. Actually put fish in it this past weekend!

Hows the tank itself doing? Add anymore coral? Have been wondering whats happened with this build, havent seen many updates!! :)

Thanks for asking. It's been doing pretty good. Had a small bout of cyano but its gone now.

A few weeks ago I started adding a cap of AV Fuel twice a week and the corals have been growing fast since.

I also went on a coral spree the last few weeks. Mostly frags but also a scoly, trachy and lobo on the way. I will update the livestock and pics once they arrive

Changing the flow a bit. Going to replace the WAV with a 2k gyre.
The WAV is just too much even on the lowest setting
@DWPhilli Are you talking gyres with Icecap Wi-Fi dual controller? That’s what I have but won’t have them set up for awhile. Let me know how well yours work.

Yes, the icecap 2k with the dual contoller, but I am only adding one for now. I may replace the mp10 with a 2nd 2k.

I installed last night, and even though i have it pretty low, it still kicked up a lot of junk off the sand bed.

@DWPhilli so you think two will of these gyres will be plenty for a Reefer 250? I find the app complex to use. I tested one of my gyres in a bucket while connected to my Apex and the Apex has limited control over the gyre controller but they can sync for feeding, maintenance, and power outage. I’m still waiting for a junior version of the Neptune WAV.

Two would be more than enough. I have mostly LPS and softie so i think the one + mp10 is enough with both <50%. I am sticking with the mp10 because the cord on the 2k is a hassle and i could not get it to look even decent on the display side
The app takes a bit to get used to, but its not too bad once you take into accoumt the pump % and the preset %s.

@DWPhilli good to know. I had to watch the coralvue video playlist on the app a couple of times before I got the hang of it.

Display tank was getting crowded with lots of coral wars breaking out, so I setup a IM 25 Lagoon Frag / Growout tank.

What I have learned on the coral pecking order so far:
  • Hammer > Goni > Chalice & Acan Lord & Toadstool
  • Chalice > Lobo & Favia & Toadstool & Mushroom
  • Acan Lord > Toadstool (poor toadstool getting the crap kicked out of him)
  • Lobo = Scoly
