Injury or Illness?

Right up near the dorsal area of this lyretail anthias.

Just received delivery of 5 lyretails. I’ve been checking the order status religiously since this weekend. It was still “pending/processing” until about two hours ago when I got an “order delivered” followed by an “order shipped” email, which was pretty annoying. I wasn’t expecting delivery until maybe Friday.

Anyway, my flame hawk has given chase a few times but nothing really aggressive so much as curious. I’m wondering if this one scraped herself on the rock work or if I’m looking at an injury. I didn’t see anything when acclimating but I was running around and I wouldn’t swear I couldn’t have missed something.

Anthias are particularly susceptible to uronema, so something to look out for.
That said, this doesn’t really look like it. To me, it looks like the fish scraped itself on a rock. It should heal up fine in a few days/weeks.

The main giveaway is a red, vertical lesion that develops on the back half of the fish. Affected fish usually don’t live very long, so if a fish is sick it would die pretty quickly.
