I want to post my solution to the sh*tty micro bubble machine that is the " NuvoSkim DC Saltwater Desktop Protein Skimmer Fusion AIO "
for a year I've been testing how to get it to skim just right. Even after breaking it in the microbubbles were the worst part of utilizing this protein skimmer in my Innovative Marine Peninsula 20g. So what you have to do is have the machine rest on something so it's a bit higher in the middle chamber, I used a plastic cup, and have your water level in the 3rd chamber like in the picture. I've gone through so many threads people complaining about the bubbles but there not being a solution, here's my chance to help out the community. I also have a 800GPH pump running at full blast which I also took a picture of.

IM has some great products, the skimmer is horrible though.
Thanks for sharing, I just threw one away. You have more patience than me.

hahah indeed I do. What skimmer you using now?
Bubble Magus on both my tanks. Easily the best nano skimmer I have ever used. Great price, they break-in fast, easily adjustable. Tunze 9001 is a good one, Bubble Magus MiniO is better.

Where is it located in your tank? Backside pic would help.

If it’s not in a chamber where water level is never changing then that might be the issue.

I had a ghost skimmer a few years ago that always gave me some micros before moving it to a constant water level chamber

Since then I have turned to the tunze 9001 and now bubble Magus mini Q which is going to my drop off since I just got a Aquamaxx 1.5HOB for my main

It's in the second chamber which is the chamber it is designed to be in and is a constant water level. I can try and post pictures later but I'll have to put it back in I gave up and pulled it out. I was getting so many microbubbles it was building up large air pockets under my rockwork and all.

I had both the Ghost and the DC and bubbles eventually went away. I had tried raising it when I had bubbles but didn’t help and amount of water inside the skimmer was also lower and I needed wet skim.

However I have not seen that controller on my DC pump. Is it a after market pump or did they add a controller to newer models?

Curious about this also. I need a new pump for mine.
