innovative marine vs. others

It seems like red sea and waterbox get way more attention than innovative marine tanks. Is there any reason people don't seem to buy innovative marine tanks?

IM has been around for quite some time. In my experience they are well built tanks and systems. In fact, you might say they are "over built". Just received my IM Nuvo 100 EXT system two days ago. Everything packed extremely well. The tank showed up in a wooden crate. Their customer service both before and after the sale was impeccable. I received the system a little over a week after I ordered it. Here's my build thread:

^^^^^ I remember going to the local big pet stores and paying nearly 80 dollars for a tiny junky tank, this IM Fusion 15 AIO with beautiful glass was 100 bucks. So much nicer than the my 12" cube tank with no back filter.
I would give IM tanks a very had look, they are worth it.

i've been looking at thei tanks and the 170gal looks like a great size for me if i ever wanted to replace my tank.

A tip for new customers--
Before stand assembly put a length of wood into the rear top support of the stand.
Some softer wood as thick as you can so you can hang or use supports a needed.
I used oak & wish I hadn't.
The aluminum will NOT allow this.

My first tank was an I.M. Nuvo 25 GAl AIO. it was an awesome starter tank. I took it down now in trade for a 40 Gal BUT I am considering bringing it back as a specialty coral tank. The parts are good, the customer service is also great. I highly recommend I.M. all around

I like my IM25 lagoon. Maybe they were not as popular since the bigger tanks were not plug n play until recently. Now they have come out with sumps.

I dunno, I love my IMs. I used to work at a LFS and NuvoAquariums have always been my favourite.

One issue that I have is that the Innovative Marine cabinets are bad quality. Unevenness, etc. I dunno what I'd do next time if I buy a NuvoAquarium, probably see what other brands of stands/cabinets are available.

Ten or so years ago? More or less.

That was resolved when they decided to stop having curved glass.

I've loved my 2 IM tanks. If I ever go bigger, it will probably be IM again. I don't love the stand, I find that the acrylic panels are really hard to keep looking clean. But it's fine.

I don't know that I have ever heard of a leak issue on one of the newer IM tanks.

i think the only issue i would have w/ their tank is, armoured seams arn't part of their tanks. I like how their pipe sizing is all in US sizing and not metric. makes things so much easier

I have a 100G Int one, it is beautiful and I have never had a problem with it. I also use their return pumps and wave makers and have never had an issue

Sorry could you explain what you mean by this? We're setting up our first IM tank in a couple of weeks and the stand is aluminum. Do you have photos? Are you suggesting this just because it makes it easier to organize things? Thanks in advance.

The aluminum is plenty strong for the stand, just not thick enough to drill & tap or use a self threaded screw.
You need to fill the space. Nothing better than a length of wood.
This allows you to use hangers or clamps held into the top support beam for whatever you need.
You will need something almost 7/8" thick IIRC.
