Anyone ever had problems with the reef crystals leaving a brown residue in the mixing bucket? I had it with a batch I got and never used it for that reason. I use just plan Instant Ocean but will be changing to something more designed for a reef with higher trace elements and such. I'm just not sure if I just got a bad batch or is it pretty common.

I was able to price match Petco as well ymmw

The brown residue is common with RC. I read somewhere that is is due to the "binders" used in production. I used RC for three years and if I mixed the water longer than 24 hours it seemed to get more pronounced.

Thanks for the info. I managed to get the last bucket of Reef Crystals in Rhode Island, plus two buckets of Instant Ocean. I ordered online with in-store pick-up. I didn't know Petco price matched. Did you just bring the receipt to Petco?

Well after 2 employees and a manager Petco in Waterford finally price matched, but trust me they didn't want to! Petsmart was cleaned out of both but I feel accomplished getting petco to cave.

I picked up a bucket thanks to this thread and the manager ordered me two more buckets and said she would price match when they arrive from the DC. Too bad I didn't get them for $19.99, it was $26.49 plus 6% sales tax.
