so lately ive been looking to trace elements and such and has led me to salts. currently i use IORC but seems like lately the price for a bucket is creeping up enough it almost makes it so its not a cost issue to switch salts. is it just me that this price is going up and if so i was looking at the red sea coral pro salt. ive also seen some people state that IORC doesnt make 160 gallons per bucket where other salts make whats claimed to reach the specific salinity your aiming for. i keep 1.025

I was using reef crystals and when I started doing AWC, I noticed it did not do the 160g it was supposed to do. I have since switched to Red Sea. Love it! Mixes better and does the amount it says it does! Hope this helps!

The amount it mixes to according to the SG its mixed. If you mix it to 1.025 then it's going to take more salt than 1.024.
LFS near me sales RC for 39$ 200 gallon box, guess it depends on where you purchase it. It's also much more likely to be on sale so you can get further savings. Red Sea pro cost double what I pay.

When I first started growing SPS I used Reef Crystals for almost 6 months. I immediately grew tired of the weird sludge and build up in the mixing containers I used to prepare the salt water. I decided to switch to HW Marinemix Reefers Salt available on the BRS site. I unfortunately did not do a slow enough transition from one salt to the other and ended up losing 2 large SPS colonies in the process. All I can say is take your time switching from one salt to the other.
