Instant ocean reef crystals

Ya Alk is really high, other than that it's a great and cheap salt

I used it for years without any issues at all. Make sure you mix it really well, as with all salt. You can use a plastic version of something like this to mix a 5 gallon batch easily. I got mine at a local hardware store - just make sure it's not galvenized like that link is.

Used it for years and will always love reef crystals.

The only complaint from me, regarding Instant Ocean Reef Crystals, is the brown residue that is left in my mixing bucket and on my mixing equipment (pump, heater, temperature probe). I live in an apartment that does not have a water supply or drain on the first floor, where my aquarium resides, so cleaning my mixing equipment can be tedious and daunting at times. Otherwise, I like using it because it can be found at nearly every shop that sells saltwater supplies, it's relatively cheap, and Amazon often discounts it.

This video, produced by Bulk Reef Supply, may give you some insight into the 'cleanliness' of different salts and how to limit unwanted substances from entering your system.

Below are a couple of Bulk-Reef-Supply-produced playlists that may be helpful in answering questions that you may have about Reef Crystals since they go into depth about different salts, such as how to mix them, how to store them, measurements, costs, and comparisons. There's plenty of information about Reef Crystals in the videos, but it may take a bit of scrubbing through them for information directly related to that salt.

I used it for years. I’d still be using it if it were the cheapest salt on the market. It’s cheap because it’s low on some things like Mag. It’s also a dirty mixer. But I’m ok with all that. I run it through a. Series of sediment filters before it hits my display. I do AWC, so, to me it doesn’t matter if the parameters are off, it’s such a small constant amount that my auto dosing autocorrects for it. I am using blue RPM right now. I like that I can get the 55 pound boxes in 4 bags. Makes it so much easier to mix. My mixing containers are 250G each, so that helps.

is it fine to use if I don't have corals?
Yes it’s good for fish only. Just formulated with higher levels of Ca/alk/mag relative to the OG instant Ocean.
It’s a fine salt. Agree with the previously mentioned funky residue in mixing container.
I prefer Tropic Marin, but it is double the cost.
