I have this invasive sponge growing and now it’s making its way off this rock with the zoas on it… is there anything that eats sponge? The zoas are opening just fine but I think it looks ugly… And I don’t want it taking over my tank. I’m currently dosing silicates to fight dinos and the sponge clearly loves it and has exploded in growth.. help!

Also, can anyone ID this stuff? It’s not harmful is it? I’ve heard some sponges are toxic..

Angels eat sponge but also eat zoas. Expose the songe to air for a few short minutes and it should kill the sponge. The zoas should be ok out of water for that period of time

Would a reef safe angel touch it? Just noticed it spread to other rocks I can’t get out. Have a Bellus angel coming in 2 days. Will definitely try exposing this one to air though. Thank you!

Neither of those will eat it. Via syringe you can inject air or vinegar into sponge but May affect coral
