I am working on my stocking list and have always liked butterflies. My tank is a 120 gallon fowlr with inverts.

Are there any invert safe butterflies?

There are many. Mitratus, tinkeri, and burgessi are pretty reef/invert safe. Pyramid and zosters are also considered reef safe with caution. One type of heniochus whose name escapes me is also on the safe list. Copperbands and others of the genus chelmon are a good bet.

I have a burgessi in my mixed reef tank and besides some occasional nipping, she's a model citizen. Just lost my copperband after 4 and half years, and she was also a model citizen.

Remember, no guts no glory. You have to take a shot and there are plenty of players you can chose from.

If your only worried about motile inverts, such as snails, crabs, shrimp, etc, then just about all butterflies will be fine.
